Framingham cancer coalition plans block party

The Framingham-based Conquer Cancer Coalition of Massachusetts is planning its third annual Cancer Garden of Hope Block Party Saturday.

The free event will be held at the cancer garden at Boston?s City Hall Plaza from 12 to 3 p.m.

Attendees can learn about local cancer resources and listen to music by two-time cancer survivor and recording artist Charlie Scopoletti. Light food will also be available.

The garden includes engraved bricks and plaques that people can purchase to support fighting cancer.

?This is a project that we have been very passionate about and we want this to be a celebration of hope,? Jonathan Zuker, the coalition?s executive director, said in a press release. ?We feel the space allows families, individuals, corporations, and anyone who has dealt with this disease to express their feelings and memories, and be empowered to make a difference. Once a brick is sold, it is not only a lasting tribute, but also helps to fund the fight against cancer.?

The Conquer Cancer Coalition, founded by the Zuker family, which includes Natick resident ?Susan Zuker, also raises?money with ?Conquer Cancer? state license plates and ?Wear Out Cancer? T-shirts.
